    Product Description

    1. Mechanism of Action
Melanostatin (DM) is a synthetic nonapeptide (9-amino acid peptide) that functions as a potent and specific antagonist of α-MSH (Alpha-Melanocyte Stimulating Hormone). Its mechanism is elegantly targeted:
It competitively inhibits α-MSH from binding to its receptor (MC1R) on the surface of melanocytes.

By blocking this key signal, it effectively downregulates the entire melanogenesis process within the cell.

This leads to a significant reduction in the production and transfer of melanin to surrounding keratinocytes, resulting in a lighter, more uniform skin tone.

    2.  In Vitro Efficacy Data
    Human Melanocyte Culture Studies:
    Demonstrates dose-dependent inhibition of melanogenesis.
At a concentration of 10 µM, it showed over 50% inhibition of melanin production stimulated by α-MSH.
Effectively reduces the activity of key melanogenic enzymes, such as tyrosinase, without directly inhibiting or cytotoxic effects.

    3. Clinical Results
Study Design: A clinical study on volunteers with visible hyperpigmentation, using a formulation containing Melanostatin (DM) at X% (e.g., 1-5ppm) applied twice daily for 8-12 weeks. Results were measured by chromameter and expert grading.

    Key Findings:
Significant lightening of age spots and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) as early as 4 weeks.
Improvement in overall skin brightness and radiance.
More uniform and even-toned complexion confirmed by instrumental colorimetry (ITA° increase).
