Hyaluronic Acid Is The Ultimate Hydration Solution for All Skin Types

Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is a glycosaminoglycan naturally found in human skin, joints, and the vitreous humor of the eye.    Composed of repeating disaccharide units of glucuronic acid and N-acetylglucosamine, it boasts an exceptional ability to retain water.    In cosmetics, HA is typically produced via microbial fermentation or plant extraction.    It exists in various molecular weights: high-molecular-weight,  low-molecular-weight, and oligomeric HA, each targeting different skin layers to deliver hydration, repair, and anti-aging benefits.

Typically used at 0.1-2%. Hyaluronic acid is not readily soluble in water as it binds water very quickly forming a gel. Hyaluronic acid needs to be carefully sprinkled into the water under constant high-speed stirring (preferably with a hand mixer or vortex mixer). The mixture starts then thickening quickly and becomes a gel. At the point no additional hyaluronic acid can be added as there is no water left for hyaluronic acid to be dissolved in (additional hyaluronic acid would only form lumps).
